doubtful. but possible. but doubtful. possibly. doubtfully possibly but possibly doubtful. and a doubtful possible, as well.

its not on the horizon, but i'm sure that the natural evolution of things will carry it that way, possibly.

Read up on BlackBerry Connect (the second forum listed). Companies like Palm One have signed up to put the RIM e-mail software on their devices. So, you may one day see a Treo with RIM e-mail and a touch screen. One day. Maybe.

touch screen equals fragile. I would rather use the hardware keys.

In the BlackBerry API I found a "StylusEventListener"
If this will ever be implemented who knows...

Default you may be right

I guess my enthusiasm for touch may be missguided.

the more I use the thumb and the wheel the more I apreciate its ruggedness and full feature.

Maybe some better customizable hot keys...

Nothing in the near future with touchscreen BBs. But like some have said, there will be other products utilizing BB software that have touchscreen.

My screen is dirty enough the way it is. I swear there are things in the crevices that just will not leave!

Exactly. For me a touch screen means 1. dirty screen and 2. stylus. I don't like either of them.

i have had the opportunity to try out my buddys Treo 600... what i noticed was that i hardly used the touchscreen or the stylus because everything could be accessed from the main keys.

Because the scroll wheel on the blackberry is so intuitive and functional, I don't think that I would even use the touchscreen if BB's had it. That's just my opinion though.

I agree with others who have noted that the hallmark of the BB above all other devices is it's physical robustness. A touchscreen would be just another item to break, poke, scratch, etc.

Having said that, RIM will probably give into demand for what might be perceived as an added-value feature.

While all true, a touch screen would be great for some field force automation apps we are working on. Right now, we cannot do signature capture.
