Default ***What comes first on Cingular 7130 or 8707?***

Please Login to Remove!

My guess is 7130g (soon) but I would hope the 8707. Just having having UMTS on the 8707 would certainly help worldwide roaming. Hopefully Cingular isn't wrapped around the axle that they are early in the process of rolling out high speed access......

What is the adv of the 7130c? It's just the 7100g version of the 8700c. I think the 8700c small enough that the 7130c would have no real advantage and I hate suretype.

they just marketed edge on a bb, there is no way they are going to turn around in less than a year and start marketing UMTS. the american public is stupid, they go through FULL marketing cycles. My guess at the earliest UMTS bb rollout wont be till mid 2007. Americans will pay for gprs, then they will pay for edge, then they will pay for UMTS. thats three devices and three times the profit over just rolling out UMTS right away.... its the truth.... many decades of american marketing proves me right. Why sell a cow all at once for 100 bucks when there is people who will pay piece by piece for 500?
Its the american way

I think that the 7130 will come out in in the next week or so. Cingular has six launch events, the first scheduled for June 13th where a new BlackBerry will be unveiled.

Other then a different design and not QWERTY keyboard, What is the big deal with this phone? My 8700c keyboard I think is much better then any of the 7100 series keyboards. I assume the EDGE capability is the biggest difference since the 7100g did not have this.

Very simple:

For us 71xx folks, this is our 8700. It comes down to personal opinion really. You, and many others, prefer the qwerty. I, and many others, do not.

So, this has the nice screen, faster processor and internet. Bring it on!

I did try out the 8700c for a week. I was truly shocked that I didn't like typing on it. I think I've just gotten used to sure type. Weird.

ntjones:

If you liked the suretype on the old 7100's, you'll probably love the suretype on the 7130. I tested one of these the other day and was amazed at how much better the suretype is.

And it can learn new words from incoming email (a function i turned off due to learning spam words)...so you could theoretically send yourself an email with the entire english dictionary in it and have them all available to you.

OOOOOoooo...and frequency learning...I liked the frequency learning. I generally type 'hey' more than I type 'get' and after a couple emails, it was defaulting to 'hey' instead of 'get'.

Remote desktop is now a viable option on the 7100 form factor too...thanks to the EDGE connection.

Auto screen dimming was decent too. Side convenience key helped make my life a bit easier...oh, and I guess the faster processor and more RAM helped a bit

On a regular 7100 (or even a 7290) if you try to highlight multiple pages of messages using shift scrolling, you can see a lag....on the 7130, no lag.

But enough of my babbling...check the specs on the 7130c, it's NICE!

NOTE: This is not a qwerty vs suretype post, just a suretype vs suretype post.

EDIT: OOOOOhhhhh....I almost forgot...remember when the 8700 came out and everyone was saying it was leaps and bounds above for phone quality? Put that phone quality into a 71xx form factor. I had AMAZINGLY clearer calls than my 7100t that I was using previously.

I can't wait for T-Mobile to get it. LOL I can add to that SureType vs SureType post. I had 2 7100t's and they were ok to type on. But when I got my 7105t I was AMAZED as how much easier it got with the beveled (contoured keys). And apparently, the 7130 has raised keys. I can't wait to try it.
