Default T-Mobile OS Update ETA

Please Login to Remove!

FYI:

My company just installed a BES and service plan with T-Mobile, I asked one of their Engineers about an ETA on the next OS upgrade from T-Mobile for the 8100. I know about the Rogers update.

Here was his response. The conversation was nothing "official" just his opinion.

> There isn't an ETA for the patch; I would guess about 2 months.

I hope it isn't that long. I read they were already testing 4.2.0.61 so I hope it isn't two months.

I would expect something by the end of the year. I really doubt it will be before that.

Just wondering - is that a guess or based on information?

Two months sounds about right from what I predicted, typically about two months after the release date of an original OS and phone.

So that would make it next month, IMHO. But I don't think it will be two months from now.

Having dealt with OS and patches for over 12 years, I think there is a pattern in all this.

Usually multiple betas before release, then a couple months for a patch to come out, after release of the product. Then about 6 months for a major patch or revision.

Only exception I have seen is if there is a major flaw or bug in the original release, then something comes out quick, like the Rogers OS that fixed the ringer issue.

My hunch is that RIM is treating the trackball/ringer issue as a major flaw and a patch will be coming out soon for T-Mo users.

Just a guess based on what tmo has told me and what I have read on the other forums.
