Default RIM to support Quicktime and Windows Media formats? - 11-29-2006, 01:32 AM

Here's a majority complete list of all future supported media formats for the RIM operating system, which will include support for Quicktime movies (.mov) and Windows Media audio and video formats (WMA, WMV, and ASF), along with a few other goodies. No clue when this functionality will come about, but expect it in 2007 sometime.

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.

Looks like they are going to give the competition a good run in the coming years.

This will be very nice to have. I just hope they make it available for all the blackberries that can handle the file sizes.

yes, but don't expect it in the next one, although the media player will be on it (4.2).

Wow, first camera and now MP3/video players. Who said RIM would not compete in the consumer market? They keep this up and they'll have it corner'd.

Default WMA Streams? - 12-11-2006, 02:51 AM

Any idea if the Media Player will support Windows Media streams or just files on the BB?

Thanks;
-Joseph-

PS: What are the chances Verizon will lock down this feature on their 8700? I'm not impressed with the VZW-branded OS, by the way (I played with it some in the store yesterday).
