First the 8800, now the 8300 and 8320. The whole world is going by and Verizon is sitting still. I love the coverage that I get in my area they are the best, but why so long for a CDMA version. This is surely not a technology issue, we have had GSM and CDMA for some time, switch the radio portion and get it out.

Now I feel better. It is just frustrating to see all the talk on these forums and the answer to the Verizon crowd is should be some time soon.

Please feed my need to hear something updated with any inputs on this thread for when, how, what Verizon is going to do with release of new Blackberry's.

only time will tell....only time will tell......i can't imagine that CDMA technology is much more expensive than GSM to manufacture......but i don't know

I thought it revolved around the fact that qualcomm goes through some antiquated qualification phase that delays the release from the RIM side.

Kinda correct. Verizon does a full 3-month test of new devices on their network. Its it too long? Maybe but that's their policy. Its only another 10 weeks before we see the 8830e.

Is demand small comparied to worldwide coverage, or just US coverage? Who is the biggest in the US since I do not travel much out of my area and never out of the US.

Verizon coverage for my area is great and they do charge for it!! But I am in Real Estate and I MUST have my calls go through. Just still whining a bit about not seeing a new device yet. Thanks for your ears and any input.

Demand is small compared to worldwide coverage since CDMA is used in only a few markets outside the US. Cingular (which is GSM) is the biggest in the US but if you combine the CDMA providers (Verizon, Sprint, Alltel, etc.), I think (not sure) that the CDMA subscriber base is higher than GSM here in the US.

Just to throw another wrench into the mix of "the total CDMA probably outnumbers total GSM in the US".. What percentage of Blackberry users are based in the United States vs. the rest of the world? Just guessing, I believe it's rather high. When I travel abroad, (Asia and Europe), I don't see too many BB's... Which comes to I wonder what percentage of BB users/devices (vs. just mobile devices) are GSM vs. CDMA? ;)

^^ You need to add IDEN to that comparison as well, there are some massive corperate accounts using IDEN BBs. (many government users as well)

OK a lot of number from many areas. But I wonder where is the larges BB base of users (corporate, government, consumer) and where are they located. That should be the demographic that RIM should care about. That said, it could be in the carriers hand at that point. In other words did they get the device for their network and some are slower at integration and release? Thoughts and PLEASE VERIZON RELEASE A 8800 model!

I am having Q problems, and so am dealing with my VZW Corporate rep. I asked him point blank if I should ditch the Q now or if I should keep using my stop-gap solution for any new devices in the pipeline that are 2-3 months out. He mentioned the "super cool 8800" and maybe the Pearl, both in the May/June timeframe.

I have no idea how reliable he is, but it seems to corroborate what I've read here and elsewhere.

So I need to hold on for just another month or two!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a 7250 that works great, but I really like the 8703 screen! And I am up to get a new unit, but trying to be patient. But everytime one gets close then they start talk about another one.

So for the people that have switched from an 87xx to 88xx unit what do you think about the pointing device instead of the track wheel?
