It will probably be at least 6 months, if not a year, before that comes out.

RIMs been shortening the length of time between GSM and CDMA models, so I would image 6mos is more realistic. If they were smart they would develop new models in parallel, so that there is little to no lag in between. And I don't want to hear any garbage about GSM, blah, blah blah. There is just as much demand for CDMA BBs as for their GSM counterparts.

Whoa... no need to get feisty there tiger. My post wasn't a "GSM is better than CDMA" one.

The reality is that it used to cost more to do CDMA because of licensing chips from Qualcomm. Also RIM did not have as many CDMA engineers to develop units because of the disparity in the number of users of CDMA world wide. That gap is closing as RIM is setting up a new CDMA unit to close the lag between GSM and CDMA device releases. Still, a CDMA curve is probably a November release by the carriers.

My guess is Verizon will release early December.

Wasn't aimed toward you. I'm just sick of hearing that GSM is soooo much more popular then CDMA and that is why product development of these phones is delayed. The US is a big market and CDMA is a large chunk of it. I think RIM is slowly learning this, hence the quicker turn around on the 8800 series. Nokia and Sony Erricson ought to learn this lesson, as well, if they wish to remain competitive in this country.

Why do people pay any attention to the Boy Gerkoff? His reports are never substantiated and all he does is spread worthless rumors and gossip. This kid really annoys me!

It's not necessarily more popular. Just google for CDMA subscribers and GSM subscibers over 380 million CDMA versus 2.5 Billion GSM so you can see that more of the available market to RIM and other cell phone makes is GSM based rather than CDMA. Not to mention that there's a licensing fee for every CDMA device and no fee for GSM. There is simply more money to be had with GSM since there is more market to go after.

I suppose that it's area/carrier driven, but I personally prefer CDMA cell phone reception/sound quality to GSM. It's still a much fuller, crisper call.

There are delays in just about every release. Cingular or what ever carrier tests the units and then might find something that has to be taken car of.

Anyone else think that this clown is Boy Gerkoff himself? The guy isn't simply posting rumors- he's got a whole site devoted to false information!

It's not more popular in the US, but like clyde_turkey mentioned, the numbers don't lie about it's popularity elsewhere.

It's funny that you mention Nokia and SE since Nokia outsourced their CDMA business to Pantech, and SE hasn't made a CDMA phone in several years. The last one was the limited release T608 on Sprint.

Anyway, it's all personal preference as to which one is better. For me, GSM is better because I can take it to 150+ countries around the world and I dislike the call quality on CDMA.

Quoted for truth.

Until you can speak proper English when attempting to insult a person, you should stop posting.
