Even if you could support this. We are going to have to wait another whole year for a new Nextel/Sprint Blackberry... The other companies will probably be on the Pearl 4 by then. I will jump ship by then...

The current (8130, 8830) EVDO Blackberries will not be upgraded to Rev A. The '8330' is probably far enough out that, by the time it is released, everything will be coming with Rev A.

Dawg, we who have inside info can not prove how we get our info, I can tell you this, that i also am a user on sprintusers.com, apparently another user who "leaked" some info leaked too much and turned out to be a someone I knew and he was fired! We can not provide any info on how we get our inside info!

badss, the EVDO network sprint uses is Rev. A! It's Rev. B that they're getting new towers for but no technology that uses it! Before you say lets use Rev. A look into what it is.

Well I can say sprint is getting a Pearl here soon... But for the Nextel/Sprint blackberry, Q4 is just the latest date, the reason is Qualcomm and Sprint are still working out user rights agreements and patent agreements for RIM to use the qchat technology, they don't want to just hand it out to anyone and have it reverse engineered! Once that's all done then they will make a product and test it. RIM is currently aware of the URGENT want for a new Nextel/Sprint PTT BlackBerry but you must always take into consideration legal ramifications and financial feasibility, to produce a standard or even hybrid BlackBerry costs alot to make! Not to mention the battery life would be wretched! That's why we haven't seen one, just to make a new version past the 7100i would not be feasible, what new features would it have? It would be just as fast as the 7100i on accessing the network. Just some food for thought on that bit.

Turkish, I was responding to Dawg. I guess I was annoyed. He did answer another post of mine and I'm grateful. It just seems when a new guy asks a question or is unsure or offers a bit of advice many here are skeptical. Which is ok but sometimes I think we should take a rumor and let it be rumor. It's not a fact, yet! oh and sometimes the noobs ask questiions about certain devices and stuff and right away they say, "Read the FAQ or search". Well, I would except I don't know what I truly asking sometimes. I just wish they'd go easy. With that, no harm no foul! I still love this forum.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8703e by Sprint: BlackBerry8703e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/104)

Kidberry, I totally feel embarassed! I totally misread ur post!

I know what you mean about not beleiving the noobs, but though I may have little posts I have found these forums to be quite helpful in finding answers without posting.

While Sprint's network is Rev A the BB's only have a rev 0 chipset.

I see... Ya so, sorry about all that, I didn't know that the blackberries were only Rev 0. Though really the difference of 2.4Mbps to 3.1Mbps download and 153kbps to 1.8Mbps isn't a whole lot, except on the upload, but your not really gonna see that much of a noticeable difference on the upload, since there isn't much uploading being done... Maybe RIM is holding back for Rev B with 73Mbps down and 14Mbps up...

If you stated they were Rev A then you were incorrect. But I see you have already realized that.

RE: Rev B, Neither Sprint nor Verizon have decided to deploy Rev B yet. Now that so many companies have commited to LTE as their future network technology it is unknown if Qualcomm will continue developing their advanced EVDO technology UMB.

Sprint plans to run a dual Rev A (phones)/IDEN (slowly phased out as HPPTT converts DC customers) and wimax (for devices) network until they decide on a future standard moving forward.

I'd want that extra upload speed there if I tethered my BB to my computer and used it for my internet connection!

thank you, that is what I was saying. I was fully aware that sprint was already installing new towers that were Rev. B, which further proved my point that we need a BB that at least works on Rev. A, but B would be even better.

Keep waiting for Rev B, it is as dead as EV-DV.

I wouldn't say that, the reason I said Rev B is because I got word from "above" that the future devices will be able to do 50 Mbps and in certain parts of the network they are implementing the new technology, now yes that does not mean that is whats going to be used, just tests being performed, some of the biggest things being done is, not only is sprint on it's own proprietary fiber network, they have to make sure that the network can handle the exceptionally high speeds! I mean I only get 21Mbps down with comcast!

So Though they are implementing a new technology that is faster than 50Mbps, I assumed it was rev. B, since companies at times tend to stick with the same technology for backwards compatibility, but that may not be the case...
