Default Never used a BB - 10-10-2007, 10:03 PM

I'm with Verizon Wireless and never used a BB. I've been reading that the Pearl is still for business use but adds some consumer touches to it like the camera and picture messaging. Anyway, is there anyone on Verizon Wireless with a BB and how much do you pay a month? Right now, I have a regular phone but with a Premium Plan for $79.99 plus tax it costs me about $90 a month. With the BB plan would I go much higher than that? Right now I have unlimited use of email (year, basic email on a regular phone) and VZ Navigator which I use often. That's another reason why I am considering the Pearl because it has GPS. Is this something VW would disable?

Well, from reading their BB data plans, its much more expensive with the BB. The plans start at 79.99, I see and that doesn't include any text messaging.

But that does include minutes. For $80 it includes 450 minutes, unlimited calls to Verizon cells, unlimited nights and weekends.

Understood. And its also an unlimited plan. But I text message quite often so I think I'd have to go for the $99.99 plan. Of course, I'd be curious how VW will let us use the GPS function built into the Pearl.

The VZ advertisements for the 8130 say that it is 3G. Does that mean that it is faster than the 8830 in terms of data rates? How about the web browsing? I live in Houston and VZ has rolled out the BroadbandAccess, with pretty high data rates on the wireless cards. So, I think that the network capability is there.

The 8830 is 3G as well, as is the 8703e and the 7130e. So the speeds should be about the same unless the 8130 has a faster processor.

Always less than expected.
And now unimproved for 2008.

The guy that posted the data plan rate change is very trustworthy on HF and has provided many release dates, so I believe that the plan will change to $29.99. Also, I think the plan will still be the regular BB "Unlimited" on Verizon.

You'll be seeing more from me around here. BlackBerry Pearl in January for me! (NE2 is then)

Does anyone know if the sms and emails are seperated in the Pearl or upcoming Verizon Pearl such as in the zen theme? If not, do we know if the zen theme can be added on?

The rate change would be nice, if it covers unlimited
