I don't have a definitive on that for you, but just try to use the purported "new" features such as logging in from your handheld w/o needing to input password or username. Look at the post with the new feature list and try to utilize any one of them. Since the features haven't been confirmed yet, as far as I know, it's a crap shoot anyway.

Or, you could just wait til it's confirmed, checking back here often. I know, no fun in that. hehe.

I still don't have message status synchronization with my gmail account. I cant say for yahoo mail, because I dont use them.

I have a 7250, on Verizon. Maybe that feature is not supported on this model?

Do you mean that when you read or delete an email on Gmail, it doesn't show as read on your BB? Or vice versa?

I have tested it several times in both directions. I still don't get notification sync, in either direction.

As for deleting emails, it has always been very unreliable for me, in terms of the delete reconciliation between BIS and Gmail.

Default BIS 2.4 Documentation - 09-16-2007, 09:22 PM

I noticed documentation on 2.4 on the RIM website about two weeks ago. You might want to go there and download a copy for review as it might answer some questions.

I see you listed yourself in your profile as having 2.4. I am not sure the 7250 will upgrade to the 2.4, regardless of the features. Certain features will also need to have a 4.2 OS

I don't think we have 2.4 yet (at&t) because one of the features was automatic login from the browser. I am using the BB browser and it is not logging me in automatically like the 2.4 release notes said. So based on this I can only conclude that the update (at least for AT&T) never happened.

Thanks for that bigme. Funny, wireless meetings, read/delivery receipts...a few of those features have been active on my 8830 since I've had it.

I understand RTF document viewing is new in BIS 2.4. I sent myself one earlier and it was displayed on the BB just fine. Is this an indication that Rogers has implemented the new BIS or is it nothing new?

Zerog,

So you are stating that you cannot use the 2.4 features unless you delete your account and re-enter it? People with less that version 2 are prompted for an upgrade but what about all the rest of us??

No I just did this so I can have the Yahoo mail icon on my phone try sending yourself a contact as a vcard to your bb and see if you can view it before you save it.

the biggest different on bis 2.4 is auto login..

which is a pain for user who frequently tested new device, must be deactivated first by login to your bis website using desktop or maybe using operamini to revoke auto login feature..

if you using your email setting to login to your bis website, it will show change handheld procedure, beware please make sure you know what are you doing even there is a funny thing that we are required to answer if we are going to change to the same PIN :p just choose -NO-

this feature is great for a new user

and by the way apac (asia pasific) using this new bis since last week.. at least my carrier is

beware if you take your simcard to other blackberry, make sure on the bis website that you are tied to right pin.. (unless you have revoke the auto login feature , so you must login to change handheld)

and other new feature, is if you create user must accept agreement first before creating user name, and for existing user there a end agreement link on the bis website (haven't tried this)

cmiiw, at least that what i known from the new bis 2.4 ..
i miss my bis 2.3 :D

That's right. According to RIM's documentation on BIS 2.4 the auto-login option only works on the device on creating a new BIS account. And if you use the web interface thereafter, the auto-login from the device no longer works.

Exactly. For example, if a user needs to setup Mail Connector (SMC), they will automatically lose the seamless login feature whether they like it or not.

Sure hope so. Remember that the IMAP server must also support concurrent connections.
