You are correct. You can not install ESM on a 08 R2 you will have to use mapi+cdo package.

The check marks just show that those components are installed. It shouldn't re-install anything. I have added and removed options on my servers without any issues. You should be fine.

That is the exact problem I had and RIM had me do a complete uninstall and reinstall due to a jboss/java problem. As I said I was able to do that since I have an HA setup.

I had some issues with RR DNS but they were solved by using TCPPing instead of UDP.
Verify your BAS poolname under confg manager is exactly what you are using in your RR DNS entries.
