Just to be sure; like funkym said, if you're looking for manually installed apps such as Opera mini, Google maps etc. on your Blackberry bold, just go to the "Downloads" folder in the settings screen...

For me this does happen automagically. Doesn't happen as soon as I perform the message-move, but it does reconcile the read/unread-state and any moved/deleted messages every ~ 15 mins or so.

If he was on a BES, I think he could have just used the "Recoved Deleted Items" feature (from within Outlook). No need for backups!

Indeed sounds like encryption problems. You should check whether 3DES or AES encryption is used and match that with the one used on your BES/Desktop Manager (3DES is advised if you can choose)....
