You dont have to hold your gps near the window....

You dont have to hold your gps near the window. Once it acquires the satellites it doesnt need direct sight to the satellites.

free wifi in my area is very very slow and i can imagine would be...

The Canadian Cell companies have really high prices for data, they can use wifi data rather than the expensive cell network data.

I use GPS to both find addresses and to track my routes while hiking. Wifi other than for voip and Canadian Data alternative seems like a waste of battery and money.
