thanks i downloaded the desktop mananger but it doesnt connect to my blackberry.my computer regonises it but not the desktop manager

I got my bb 2 days ago and i relaised it had the old version of the software (4.6) and the old bb messenger .so i went on wirless update and clicked search for updates and it says no update is...
