I am fine with using the old memory card on the new device. The data is not encrypted that I know of. I may eventually buy more external memory for media files but for right now 4 GB...

I now understand that the memory is the microSD extra media memory and I just transfer this memory, along with the Sim chip, from my old device to my new device as part of the switching process.
