Uh, yea. RIM doesn't decide to hand out devices exclusively to providers to be nice. And if RIM wanted its BB's WiFi to be used, Tmob is the only U.S. player with infrastructure.

If you like WinMo and don't need the security features of BB (or if you do and you have access to Good's solution) then by all means, WinMo 5 with Direct Push does provide pretty decent push email...

SMS is an extra charge for Verizon (as it is with all carriers--I don't think it's ever included in the BB unlimited plan). You can add text messaging to Nextel as well so long as you're running 4.1.
