I wrapped mine with a bestskinsever.com full unit skin, then slipped a rubber blackberry oem skin on top of that one. It's now virtually scratch proof.

I actually prefer to just hit the 'K' button and lock it. I also set a pass that I could hit with one hand to easily unlock it. Haven't had a need to press and hold anything :)
