They fixed most of the issues with the permissions. Most can now be modified. They recently upgraded to BES 5.0 and think that that the permission issues occurred...

I just purchased a new Verizon 8830 (to replace a Treo 700wx) and the OS version is 4.2.2.148. This unit is quite loud and has no volume issue. The vibrate is great also.

I use sherweb.com. They are $8.95 for hosted exchange and $9.95 for Blackberry service. They give me 3gb of storage and have been great...no outages and good help response when needed.
