It might wipe the email if you activate it with...

It might wipe the email if you activate it with it on there... so what I would do is this...

1. backup old unit
2. setup new unit for activation (upgrade OS, whatever)
3. activate new unit...

backup the message database from the old device...

backup the message database from the old device and restore it to the new one. You can do this in the advanced tab of backup/restore on the desktop manager
