Thanks, I tried this anyway and checked the 2010 settings in powershell all fine, as you said its not quite the same as the handsets do get the invite as an appointment and you can accept/decine etc,...

Solved this activation issue it was external email filtering classing the blackberry.net emails as spam suddenly!

Original problem with external invites still persists though so any help/advice...
