The only way I got rid of it when it started...

The only way I got rid of it when it started happening on my old 8100 was to backup- wipe the unit - and restore.

May seem a bit extreme, but fixes almost everything!

All you have to do to be able to dial right from the Home Screen, within the Phone application, choose Options and then make sure “Dial from Home screen” is set to “Yes”.
