what firmware are you running? I had a lot of hand off issues running .152, .133 has been working the best so far. I agree with John, check your mobile network options also.

Have you tried a different usb port/usb cable? If it is giving you problems and he is willing to give you a refund, you should get your money back. Not many people would offer to do that.
