I am probably hours away from transfering my normal mobile service to o2 and the BB 8110.

are you able to confirm that it is possible to use the GPS on the phon ewith some map software without there being any "subscription" to some mapping software, or some data transfer?

There has been talk on some forums that the GPS uses traingulation from telephone masts - but if this was the case, what would be the point of the GPS chip?!
