Frankly, if you want the Torch so bad, just get AT&T. Even GSM phones in North America have a hell of a time jumping carriers. The problems I would ANTICIPATE are
1. Making sure the SIM slot is released
2. Pulling teeth to make sure data plans and service books line up
3. No 3G. Period.
4. No UMA (calling over WiFi). Period.
You are rolling the dice, several of them, in fact, and will probably end up with a worse experience than if you just bought a MyTouch Slide. I hate Android phones myself, but if you buy a phone from a carrier for a carrier, you're guaranteed working web, at least.
