I have tried three similar devices. One was that disposable battery pack so frequently sold in airports over the past few years. Didn't work worth a squat, it drained my battery (both of the blocks). The second was a single AA powered device that didn't drain the battery, provided a bit of a boost. The Energizer two-battery version was the last I've tried and worked the best. I keep that one around w/ some NiMH batteries normally used in digital cameras. -Pk
