Cool Sometimes things just don't go as planned

This is offtopic with BB, but nobody over in the OffTopic forum would care about linux junk.

So last night I did a standard 'yum upgrade' to my Fedora 7 (apt-get upgrade for you Ubuntu/Debian nerds), it parsed a litany of files including a new Firefox, Thunderbird and 2.6.22.1 kernel so I'm all "ooh yay!" and let it fly, crunch crunch crunch done.

I reboot for the obvious reason, log back in to GNOME.

Uh, where are all my window decorations? Title bars? No borders, nothing - complete useless desktop, even ALT+<click> won't move a window anymore. I got all annoyed with "crap, now I have to fix this", which really annoyed me because it's not happened to me in forever (and really I wanted to go watch a movie). The end result was that I logged in as root, renamed my user login's .gconf/.gconfd/.gnome2/.nautilus directories to <foo>.old, logged back in and set everything back up.

Proof that sometimes it's just not your fault.
