I was not trying to be snide at all. I just edited this post three times! The limitation you are experiencing is due to the way the connection is set up I would guess and only a T-Mobile total internet would fix that... you may also want to look at something like fonero...
FON I use that for Hot spots and in my opinion it was a worthwhile investment, buy the router, share my internet at home where no one pays for hot spots and have access to a world of hot spots
