How many iPhones have you seen in the last two years?
I agree with your post in terms of "The Sky is Falling," attitude, but I am not convinced that the iPhone wouldn't be Pearl’s biggest foe. If Apple gets it right (as it did with the iPod) and give the iPhone push-mail and "mini MacOS" abilities, plus music, cam and all that jazz: It will give the Pearl a run for its money. I never thought of it as "death" to RIM but rather a competition. And a good one at that.
Keep this in mind: Before the iPod’s birth Sony had a monopoly on the MP3/headsets market.
