It does do it. I just never paid attention, i'm constantly on my phone and bluetooth.

It makes a beep, as long as that notification is set. You'd have to edit your profile, for each alert, there is something called "notify during calls?"

So to answer your question, yes it does do it. Guess I never paid attention cause the point of having bluetooth is to be handsfree, so normally the phone isnt on me and I don't bother looking at my phone to see who texted me while I'm on a call. I have only text and emails set to notify during calls, if I had any IMs turned on to notify, I would never want to have a phone conversation again.

Even though i'm partially to blame for thread crapping/ jacking, next time create a new thread to answer your question if it was that important to you.
