That's pretty much it. I'll give you my example of usage. I lucked out and got their promotion of 6GB for $30/month (on top of my voice plan). Out of the 6Gb, I have only used, at maximum, 75Mb in one month. This is with approximately 10-20 emails a day, relatively low web browsing, constantly downloading/redownloading applications with updating so much, Windows Live Messenger (very often). I'm basically sitting on an unlimited amount, for me. I will never hit 6Gb. I don't think I'll ever hit 500Mb, to be honest. So I would go for the 500Mb one and then you can gauge your usage per month on your bills and if you ever need to go higher, they won't fight with you if you want more. =)
