The 8900 will not be getting os6 officially. It may be possible to bring os6 over, but I doubt it. The hardware (processor) on the 8900 is too different for the 9700 files to be compatable.
For now, the only os6 hybrids you will see just have a few non essential os6 files in them. Someday somebody far cleverer than me may get core os6 files to open up to an 8900. For now, the only os6 look will be from a theme.
