The 7100 and 7290 comparison has been done over and over but this thread left out the screen difference. The 7100 has a sharper screen but it's very difficult to read in daylight. The 7290 has a two stage backlight and I've never had a problem reading it. It's blinding on the high setting at night.
Every cell provider has a trial period of 14 days or more, so I say go for one and give it a shot. If you don't like it, try the other.
