When I tried using your
.alx, the DM came up with a message that its going to remove an unrecognized component: "
net_rim_theme_120_today_320x240.cod".
Looking into the .alx I did a slight modification to it where I noticed UMTS instead of GPRS at the line:

After suitably modifying it, the upgrade went through without a hitch.
Perhaps due to my playing around with too many OS versions.
I had the 8707 Vodafone OS (.394 of UK and then .433 of NL) on my 8700g just before this .456.
