Yes, your BlackBerry "could" have some of those issues--why not?--it is an electronic device.

I don't know what SMS lag is--slow SMS delivery? That would be your carrier's responsibility.

OS lag, random restarts and media skipping can normally be treated proactively with your battery-pull-reboots on an occassional basis like about once per week. Such reboot will normally clear memory cache, refresh apps and remove junk left in memory--all of which can cause the three problems mentioned.
Otherwise, any BlackBerry is a much more stable as I believe you will discover.
