well, i chickened out on this OS, called cingular support, and got tech help at my shop to upgrade to v4.2.1.79 from the att bberrry downloads cite. i was hoping not only that this might give me a new at&t icon (which it did), but also that it might make bluetooth work a little more automatically (which it did not). for a new speakerphone setup (through car stereo), the bluetooth still seems a little unstable and requires me to connect manually through Manage Connections each time i plug 8800 in a car mount. am getting a little off topic, but i guess i'm going to call alpine tomorrow and see if they think i should have to spend so much time establishing blue tooth connection every time i put the handheld back in car. perhaps upgrading OS wasn't relevant to this, and perhaps alpine will tell me i need to ask sbc/att and/or research in motion about this.

sorry for getting off the topic but if anyone reads this and has top of head thoughts/reactions, i would gratefully receive
