Default Blackberry 8330 for US Cellular...

Please Login to Remove!

I am buying a 8330 off someone. My provider is US cellular. Do I have to get the internet and pay 30 dollars a month or is that an option? I know some providers you do but I wasnt sure if it was the same for all. Thanks.

Most cdma carriers require the data plan in order to activate a BlackBerry on their network.

Is the 8330 you're buying US Cellular branded? If not, you could have problems activating it at all.

Please read the FAQ article on buying a used BB from eBay. Even though you are not getting from there, the info still applies. Can save you a lot of grief down the road, especially if you are new to the BB world.

Yes, US Cellular sells the 8330. I have one and love it and I am very happy with US Cellular.

The data plan is $24.95 per month for unlimited data.

Thats the only thing holding me back. That is a lot of month to pay extra for a phone.

It is a BlackBerry and not just a regular phone, meaning that along with the phone it runs applications, allows you to check your email, browse the Internet, and many other things usually all covered by the data plan. If you're hesitating at the price to be paid each month (and if US Cellular requires a data plan), you may want to investigate other phones instead that have lesser charges associated with them but can still offer the same functionality you're interested in.

I am worried about the monthly fee but ultimately it sounds worth it to get a blackberry.

To each his own...I would seriously consider your options out there though. The smartphone field is cluttered.

As much as I am a crackberry addict...I often hear really frustrated new BB users...it's not the most intuitive device to learn, but it is (imho), the best.
