i found a program called Super (dvd-guides.com/content/view/149/59/). This program is great you can play with the settings depending on how much memory you want to use up. I converted a few videos i have on my ipod. I used the following settings: output 3gp, output video codec H.263, output audio codec acc. hope this helps

Have you had any issues with the audio being out of sync with the video?

I've tried both imToo and Xilisoft's 3gp encoder's and both of them do not work correctly (followed Blackerry's suggestions of: 240x180 resolution, 400kps, MPEG-4 format, 30 frames/sec)

Also wanted to post to thank you for posting about Super..... it did much better than either ImToo or Xilisoft programs that are supposed to do the same thing, and both of them are more than $20

Just to confirm, iPod formatted MPEG4 video plays on the 8100. I copied a movie directly out of iTunes to the Movies folder on my media card.

This video was at 647kbps, stereo, and the only problem I had was the audio would "skip" occasionally. it wasn't too bad though.

I too have had many problems transferring and viewing videos. I have cucusoft ipod converter and could convert the videos to mpeg4. They would not play!! I finally got one to work using xillisoft and the video playback was horrible. It kept freezing. Could any of this have anything to do with my sd card? my mp3s play fine though. WHats the best format way to view these videos.? The preloaded sample video looks great.

Pictures- does anyone know of a prog to make your jpegs a smaller file size???

Also how to reset your 8100 phone if it is frozen or freezing without having to take the battery out.

I also used super and it worked great. Does anyone know if you can make the videos larger so it takes up more of the screen. Mine is just in a small box and there is more screen left to use. Do i change the setting in super to a different phone or ratio. Right now im using 3gp nokia h.263 aac 176x 144 and an 11:9 aspect ratio

Entering MPlayer homepage for the mplayer encoder

Then encode with
Code:
mencoder -vf scale=240:180 <input file> -o <output file> -of avi -ovc lavc -oac lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=230:acodec=mp3:abitrate=64
Works like a dream.

Man! You are my HERO.. This method works perfectly! I had been trying everything with very few results. Everything would be choppy or have no video..

Thanks again, this should be a sticky!

Post Xilisoft, Boilsoft, ImTOO and other companies

It's really strange, but why can I read here so many articles about these companies which only use FFMPEG for converting video files?

If you like to convert videos using FFMPEG, just use the free and open source comand line, but don't buy a product for 30 or 40 bucks!

Bye, Daisy
