Default can one phones GPS be better than another?

Im currently deciding between the 9000 and 8900. Would the 3G speeds and faster processor also make the 9000 a better performer when it comes to GPS? Or will I not even be able to tell the difference?

The faster the network, the faster your maps will load. It should not affect the GPS radio itself.
