We are currently running one BES at v4.1.6.10 in an Exchange 2003 environment. The BES is running as a virtual machine in ESX. The DB is on a remote SQL server.

I would like to upgrade to 5.0 and I wanted to get some feedback on my upgrade plan:

1) Spin up a new VM
2) Install BES 5.0 on new VM but don't start the services
3) Use the Enterprise Transporter to move users to the new server
4) Shut down services on old server
5) Start services on new server
6) Upgrade old server and configure as the backup for HA

Does this sound like a smooth plan? I wanted to try the enterprise transporter so the users wouldn't have to do an EA.
