Unhappy Lotus Domino 8.5 BES 4.1.6 could not open encrypted mail

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everybody,

hope anyone can help me with this issue. I try to get encrypted mail running on a Blackberry device

We have a Lotus Domino Server 8.5 and a BES 4.1.6 running. I`m testing encrypted mail on a Blackberry Storm 9520 device ( OS 5.0.0.402 ) at the moment

The Notes ID File is alredy stored in the Mailfile. INotes through a browser session with encrypted mail is running well, but when I try to open the Mail on the BB device and type on receive more on the BB device I just get a 'More' error: general failure

Is it in my environment possible to get encrypted mails running ? Or do I have forgotten something to configure ?

many thanks for any kind of help

regards

gregor

Is this what you did? View Document

Also if you are promoted for the Notes password and it's not working, you're not typing the correct password.

Hi,

thanks for reply. Yes it is exactly what I`ve done. using IBM Lotus Domino Web Access to import the notes ID File. It works with Web Access but not on the Blackberry device. I´m sure I typed in the password I configured in Notes Web Access. I can open the Mail - the BB device is going to retrieve more data and at the end I get an red cross in front of the mail ( Message Status 'More'error: general failure

Notes native encryption is not supported for Domino 8.5.

Refer to KB05489 for a list of pre-requisites for IBM Lotus Notes native encryption. See the listed supported Domino & Notes version in it:

Link: View Document

Also, BES install guide for 4.1 sp6 stated:-

native notes encryption

The BlackBerry Enterprise Server supports native notes encryption with IBM Lotus Domino server version 8.0.1.

Apparently the support was added later to 8.0.2 too. But for now 8.5 not supported.

Just to add an extract from the KB article of the requirements for easy lookup in future...

Requirements

The following software requirements must be met in order to read IBM Lotus Notes native encrypted email messages received on the BlackBerry smartphone:
  • BlackBerry Device Software version 4.1 to 5.0
  • IBM Lotus Domino Web Access mail template 6.5 and 7.0
  • IBM Lotus Domino 7.0 to 8.0.2 for the computer hosting the BlackBerry Enterprise Server
  • IBM Lotus Domino 7.0 to 8.0.2 for the messaging and collaboration server that hosts the BlackBerry smartphone user's mail database
  • IBM Lotus Notes 7.0 and 8.0.2 for the computer that has BlackBerry Desktop Manager version 4.1 to 5.0 installed
