Default Replacement Bezel / Keyboard

Please Login to Remove!

Hi to everyone on the forum.

During yesterday , I noticed that Q button was missing off my Blackberry 9700 Keyboard.

As the phone is only 2 months old , I thought I could get it fixed/replaced as part of the warranty.

However , during an accident last night I slipped and damaged one of the Bezel's side which won't be ( I imagine ) covered by the warranty.

Does anyone have an estimate of how much these would be to replace?

I would open it myself , but I'm not confident about those kind of things , and don't want to ruin the handset.

Big thanks for your time.

Wirelessly posted (Bold 9700 (AT&T))

If you go to that website, and browse for the part that you want to replace, they usually have a video telling you exactly how to do it.

The 9700 looks like the easiest to take apart so far.

Also keep in mind that doing this WILL void your warranty.

They aren't the cheapest, but they do sell OEM parts...

Hi guys, sorry if this is considered a thread hijack, but the red off/hang up button has become really hard to press. It does click, but the key travel is much less than the green call button. I figure this is a problem with the keypad circuit itself and not the keys, does an OEM keypad replace this? Also, is this a common problem? My old Nokias developed this issue but only after years of use whereas my 9700 hasn't been in use for more than a month :(

I don't want to replace the whole set completely since this changes the PIN

Dude, you can't just replace the bezel alone. You will also need a new top plate with that new bezel because it is soldered on permanently. In my opinion, you should just go ahead and pimp out your 9700 by replacing your old chrome bezel with a black one. (Black is beautiful, baby.). You will need a precision soldering iron because you must melt eight plastic tabs through eight tiny holes at the top of the bezel. Forget about trying to save the original top plate because you must pry open the top plate forcefully to break the tabs, but without those tabs you cannot re-install the top plate on your new bezel; and don't try to use Krazy Glue to reattach the old top plate to the new bezel because not only is it ghetto, the glue may create further complications. Look for black bezel threads here and you will learn how to do it. So far the hardest bezel to replace.
