Angry BlackBerry Pearl 9105 completely wiped itself

Please Login to Remove!

I'm so angry. My phone was just sat on my desk, checked it, it was off. Tried to turn it on, wouldn't turn on. Tried taking the battery out and putting it back in. The red light stayed on solidly for a few seconds and it still wouldnt do anything. I looked up on google what the problem might be and it said update your software, which I did. This made the phone turn on but the battery had nearly completely killed itself, baring in mind it was full before it turned itself off. It also completely reset the phone, I had absolutely nothing on it. My only backup was a month old one, silly me for not doing it more regularly. Anyway I restored it which brought back contacts and settings and such, only now everything that came with it as standard has gone? It no longer has GPS, any games at all and half of the applications that come as standard. What could possibly have gone wrong and how can I get these back?
Also, could anybody explain how after all this the stupid 'poynt' application STILL appears on my main menu. I dont want to download it and didnt put it there.

I don't have an explanation for what happened. Something similar happened to me, twice, in the span of about 7-10 days, and hasn't happened since.

At any rate, run desktop manager and connect your BlackBerry, and select the menu item to add/remove applications or whatever it is now. (EDIT: On DM ver 6, select applications on the left.) Then select/deselect the applications and features you want to add/remove. Then finish. That will take care of the apps included with the OS. You will need to re-download third-party and add-on apps.

Regarding Poynt, are you seeing the app, or just a download shortcut? If it is a download shortcut, it was pushed to you by your service provider, and you should just hide it and forget about it.

Thankyou ever so much, that's sorted the problem of all the missing stuff out.
Its just a shortcut to download it, its incredibly annoying though! Oh well, its hidden now.
Thankyou again for the help

Good luck in the future.

Keep yourself backed up and it will probably never happen again. That's the way these things go. Sort of a corollary to Murphy's Law.
