I'm new to Blackberry but have been researching it on the internet, For pc there is openoffice for word processing and spreadsheet work. Does such a thing exist for Blackberry? I am aware of eoffice and gridmagic but these have subscription. Is there anything cheaper than $150 eoffice charges which covers word and excel compatibility. Grateful for any help. Thanks.

A decent Windows PDA comes with excel and word and probably can be found on eBay.

I carry three separate devices for phone, email and portable office apps because no one has made an ALL ROUND DEVICE that can properly perform as the others do. And yes I think I have tried them all.

I would like to edit and attach to emails but even gridmagic charges $59.95 for only 1 year of this. Is it $59.95 every year ? They don't say on their website.

Gridmagic at $34.95 without attachment facility is a reasonable cost but who else has "word" equivalent. It seems eoffice has this monopoly and you have to pay dearly for this. Does any other software allow word documents to be edited. It seems not.

i use efile from the guys at dynoplex... but you cant edit stuff... only view...

thats all i need it for... but if you need to edit stuff then you may need to fork out the cash for the eoffice

I'm with you, I backed off trying to work from my device and life has been a lot less stressful. If I do see something I need to address I pull out the laptop and usually end up here on the forums.

Beamberry seems to handle PDF, Word, and Excel. But they are view-only...

Dynoplex is not so stern on thier prices. First, there's eOffice Basic whihc cheaper than Standard you mentioned. Second, you may go to our web site and from their contact Customer Care Department and they will ahve smth to offer you.

Google says that their working on a mobile version of Google Docs. No idea when it will be out.
