I've been through all the forums...I know 507 is a common error..my issue (which no one else seems to have) is that Desktop manager want's the PIN number of my pearl..but I don't know it! and how can I get it if my OS is stuffed!? Please help..I am pulling my hair out..

Open the back of the device, pull the battery, and view the label underneath. It (should) contain your PIN and IMEI, among other things.

And DM should pull the PIN when it connects. If it isn't, it probably isn't connecting properly and inputting the PIN manually may not help you.

you can find the PIN and the IMEI the following way:

options -> status (the last 2 numbers on the list)

This would work only if the OP has the OS loaded on his device.

exactly...507 means no OS...so I can't do that...I think I found the PIN..I'll try it.

Ok...so what's the password for the PIN?? I never created one...any ideas??????

I had this problem last week. It means your Berry got disconnected during the Update. PIN won't show up until you manage to get the new OS installed. Ignore it and just have DM Update applications. (Problem could be related to USB bus power, especially If you're PC is running XP -- Search in Blackberry's FAQs - plenty there.) As for password, if you never assigned your Berry a password you won't have one. Ignore this too. Just run the Update. After the Update the 507 will be gone and you can then run Restore to bring in your backed-up contacts, etc...
