With the upcoming 9000 for AT&T, what will Verizon get to compete?

I don't think that the Verizon Curve will compete with the 9000 so is BB going to give Verizon something as nice a the 9000 will be. I really want the nicer Internet browser. I have the 8830 and was wondering what will be like the 9000 for the Verizon.

8330 is very close to the same, excluding processor and total internal memory. I am willing to bet it will be some time before you see a 'next gen' BB for vzw

Verizon lags so far behind the other carriers. Frustrating

I will be a while before VZW gets another blackberry after the curve.

What really decides who or which carrier get what? I would assume it is money. Either RIM is attracted by the huge number of phones they will sell with service or does AT&T pay RIM a huge some of money to make sure they get the good stuff first?

It is ashame for Verizon owners but they seldom on the "cutting edge"

Its the carrier that decides the devices.

Why, then would Verizon choose to lag behind.

Why would not other carriers ask for the 9000 at the same time AT&T gets it!

I would think that Verizon would love to be the first with the 9000! Just think of the sales!

Got to be more to this and as a RIM stock holder, it is good for RIM!

it would cannablize Curve sales and thus be bad. Releasing devices on multiple carriers at the same time is bad for business, you would be fighting over the same customers. Notice that the GSM carriers in the states stagger the launches of devices, and push different features. For the same reason Sprint/Verizon *usually* have 30-90 days between launches. The devices for CDMA are upgraded when compared to their GSM bretheren. They already have 3G. And as a matter of point, the CDMA carriers released the pearl 2 series 6 months before any GSM carrier in the states. They dont always lag behind, it just appears they do, but the devices are newer when they come out.

That does explain alot! That also explains the staggered launches!

So I guess I am lucky being with AT&T

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

My Crystall Ball tells me that if 9000 comes out around Christmas, VZW would get it close to the summer or close to a year after Curve is released.
