Default mdSync 0.3.2: iTunes-to-BlackBerry and BlackBerry-to-iTunes

Please Login to Remove!

Hi

mdSync 0.3.2 is on my website. It's a superfast iTunes-to-BlackBerry sync tool. If you, like me, have been worried about being late for work as the BlackBerry Media Sync attemps to do it's thing, then you may want to give it a shot. It zips past old stuff and only spends time on new or modified media. Added feature is the ability to rate your music on your storm, and change song genres on your storm, and mdSync will update iTunes automatically during your next sync. This is super easy with the new 5.0 OS.

I know this is not an OTA app, but I figured this would be the place to let people know. It's free and FOSS.

I tested it on the Storm(1) but I expect it to work with any BB (or other device) that uses .m3u playlists.

Mike

Looks appealing!

I have Win7 Home premium 64bit, iTunes 9.02

The app crashes on each launch during the "Reading your iTunes music library..." phase.

If this is working normally, does it also update play count or last played info?

Hi NumNums

That installer is specifically for 32bit. I will create a 64bit installer as soon as I can. Perhaps tonight. Unfortunately I don't a 64bit machine to test it myself. I am using Win7 Ultimate and iTunes 9.02 also, so I hope the 64bit difference is not a big hurdle. In the past I have also used it on XP Pro and Server 2003 (both 32bit).

As for the last play info and playcount, no, it does not update that. I don't think there is anything the BlackBerry stores that I could read. If that info was available, I could use it. I am always looking for ways to improve mdSync, though. Thanks for taking the time to check it out.

I'll update this thread with news.

Hey there.

I think it was just a good 'ole fashioned bug. The special 64bit installer probably is not necessary. I did find a bug with brand new installs (most of my tests were not completely clean installs. My bad.). I put version 0.3.3 on my site. It's still under the 0.3.2 link, however. If you're interested in giving it a shot I would love your feedback. I did successfully install and run it on a brand new VM (32bit XP Pro) just now using the 32bit installer on my site.

Edit: I did add a 64bit installer in the event that it fixes your issue.
