Default RIM new hardware not recognized

Please Login to Remove!

I have a new Blackberry 7250. I have had other models and all have connected without problem to my IBM Thinkpad T40, Windows XP-Pro without any problems.

When I attach the Blackberry via USB, windows sees new hardware, see RIM but in device manager the RIM shows up with a yellow exclaimation mark. Trying to update or reinstall does not help. Referencing the blackberry software CD or Windows does not find a suitable driver.

I even tried the connection on another computer in the office, Dell Optiplex - Window XP-Pro - same results.

Can install the desktop software obviously.

I setup the email via the web and its working fine, Internet fine, Phone fine. Just this problem.

Can anyone help ?

ohhh also tried 2 other USB cables from previous models - same problem.

Thanks

close BB Desktop Mgr, detach BB, go into Device Mgr and if it's still showing up there in yellow, click on it and remove. Then, open the software and attach the BB.

When our users have that problem, we have them take the battery out of the BB for 10 seconds, put it back in, wait for it to boot, and then try dropping it back in the cradle.

Thanks I will try the battery idea.

Thanks to MarkF but all that was done several times by me (quite knowledgeable with XP/computers, etc.) to no avail and then again with Verizon tech person.

This is a RIM thing as it has happened now on all XP-machines tested (3). And did not happen with the prior version of the Blackberry.

Try loading the device drivers manually - see BlackBerry KB-03135

This happens quite frequently with our BBs. Hard-resetting the Blackberry resolves it.

Actually, we have IBM T41 notebooks and we see the same problem. The device is in the device manager, however, the desktop manager doesn't see the device. In all cases, the USB cable was plugged into a port replicator/docking station. When we plugged the device directly into the notebook, the problems ceased.

Are you connecting these directly to the notebook or through a port rep/dock?
