Default New Ent. Activations have emails they cannot delete

Please Login to Remove!

We are scratching our heads here this morning on this. To start off, we did a lot of changing recently here. Moved our users from one exchange server to another new one (New IP/Name). We had a few issues with our Exec Store clients that was rectified using the 'handheld -u' command. This morning we moved our BES account to the new exch store.

So now we are seeing new Enterprise Activations seem to be having orphaned emails (emails that cannot be deleted from handheld, even if they were deleted from Outlook).

Any thoughts on this?

You mean they can't go into Messages on the device and delete them or they don't reconcile when deleted from Outlook?

If they don't reconcile then check the settings on the device to see if it's enabled. Go to Messages>Click trackwheel/trackball>OPtions>Email Reconciliation. Ensure that Wireless Reconcile is on. If that option is missing then the Desktop[CMIME] service is corrupt. Delete it from the device and resend the service books from the BES.

If they can't delete them from the BB then the Messages DB is probably corrupt and might need to be deleted but I don't see that happening for all users. I think it may be the service book is corrupt.

Reconciliation is always a device issue, never the BES.

I had the same problem with one of my users. He was unable to delete messages from a specific day. He was able to delete all the messages, but not from that one day. I had to wipe his handheld, update the os and then redo the EA. It worked fine after that.

This has been asked and answered before, though for the life of me I can't locate the thread. It's happened to me twice, and prior to reading that thread I can't find, I performed a new EA as well. The EASY way is;

From Desktop Manager, with device attached via USB or BT, go into Backup and Restore, click advanced, on the right side of the window (device databases,) scroll down to messages. Highlight "messages", and click clear. This should remove the orphaned email message(s) that can't be deleted via the handheld.
