Exclamation How to turn off phone in 8700g?

Please Login to Remove!

Hola!

I'm hearing imparied and never use the phone, only the data plan with AIM, emails, BBMessenger, etc..

Last week, I text messaged to a dealership where I got my new vehicle...then put my BB into holster...somehow it dialed to the same person...he kept saying HELLO HELLO for the next 7 minutes...I got slapped $1.40 for the phone call...$1.40 doesn't seem much but how can I turn off the phone feature? how to prevent from accidently dialing to anyone?

Thanks!
Thomas

Thomas, I'm pretty sure it is not possible to off only the phone on the 8700. If you turn the wireless off, it turns off all data as well. You might try locking the keyboard on holstering your BB. If your turn off "Dial from home screen" (phone, options, General options, dial from home screen = NO) the tapping K from the home screen is a quick shortcut to lock the keypad.

Good luck.

JSanders,

Thanks...I was hoping there was a way to stop from accidently dialing...I have many friends who have mobile number as I use to SMS. Guess I have to be more careful and try to remember to hit "K" before I put my BB into the holster.

Have a great weekend!

Hey Thomas--also, remember to holster your BB facing in, towards the belt clip. That may help prevent some dialing, but if it is locked, it shouldn't anyway. I have the 8700 also, and never lock the keyboard, but keep it holstered, and never get the unintended dials.
