Post Displaying a progress-bar as http connection occurs

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,
i have an application that creates an http connection, fetches data and shows it to the user successfully.
My problem is, while it is connecting to the server, the homescreen looks as though it has frozen.
I have read the Knowledge base articles regarding the display of hourglass /progress-bar animation but don't know how to use them in my app.
Can anyone help me with a snippet of how to go about achieving something like an progress bar while my app is busy connecting to the server.??
Any ideas/suggestions in this regard are also welcome.

Thanks in advance,
Suz
