Hallo Allo,

I am a new user of 8830, and so far am having fun using it. But have a problem with 2 applications. BBMessenger and Googletalk, i.e., the icons of these applications have disappeared. They were not hidden for sure, because when I click on "Show all" icons, they are still not there.

Before the BB was set up with emails etc, the BBMessenger icon was still there. But once it was setup, the icon has disappeared.

And for Googletalk, I had the icon and went in there to register and download the application. However, once download was completed, the icon disappeared from the BB desktop.

Could anyone help to locate them again and retrieve them? And why is this happening? Thanks.

Have you tried a battery pull? Is there any chance they were moved to another folder?

Thanks E. I don't think so, but which folder would it possibly go to?

If I pull the battery out, will I loose all memory and messages?

No.. You won't lose anything.. Its actually good to reset the device every once in a while

No you will not. It's a RIM approved solution for clearing many bugs and is sometimes required to install applications. Just make sure the device is ON (Not in standbye mode) and pull the battery! You will not lose any information.

BES? "before the BB was set up" I meant as fresh from the box/store.

Ok, start with calling the carrier and ask them to resend your service books. See if the BB Messenger icon returns. Is your email functioning?

If that still fails can you try pressing Alt + esc at the same time and continue holding Alt. Do you see BB Messenger in the list and can you select it using the trackball?

If not you may need to reinstall.

In order to reinstall you will need a copy of the OS (same version as on your handheld) downloaded on your PC. You will also need to have the Desktop Manager installed and running.

Thank you all for your help. It's been confirmed that all IM application is blocked by my company, that's why the application icons disappeared.

Thanks for reporting back. That is what I meant by placed on BES. Some companies block those functions.
